Project overview
Two storey extension of grade II listed building with a jettied gable and glazing between oak studs. The extension provided more space, allowing the reorganisation of the ground floor and first floor layout. This created a large hall, utility and study, and on the first floor a larger bedroom with a bathroom was built.
The rear wing was originally added in the 1930's and had a shallow pitched roof. The owners wanted to make the rear wing larger and more in keeping with the rest of the house by adding a two metre extension on the end of the wing, changing the windows, and replacing the roof with a pitch to match the existing house.
A new purpose made oak door with a traditional oak canopy above was added to the side of the wing to create a more visible entrance to the house.
Testimonial
“We are delighted with the rebuild of the back wing of our home, which is now much more in keeping with the original Tudor house. Working with Rachel is a delight – the design and drawing process was efficient and collaborative and reflected our brief, the original building and the listed building constraints. Needless to say, the planning and listed consent process was far from straightforward – and thanks to your hard work and advice we won our appeal. We are so pleased with the outcome as it has meant we can stay in the house we love with our growing family.”
