Grade II listed barn conversion

Location:

Date:

Quendon

2018

Project overview

Conversion of a barn attached to an existing grade II listed house to create a kitchen / dining / utility / living space.

The structure of the barn had to be upgraded using traditional exposed oak framing above a brick plinth. The structure of the roof space was also designed to allow for a future loft conversion. The existing internal brick wall was retained and restored as feature of one of the rooms.

Existing solid timber barn doors were replaced with glazed doors to provide natural light into the newly converted spaces. The barn was previously mainly used for storage, and now provides extra living spaces for the family.
